BCEFP needs your help!
Bastrop, TX—The last twelve months have turned everyone’s lives upside-down from having to learn to work and do school from home, going without power and water, to losing a job or struggling with health problems. Sadly, for many Bastrop families they now struggle with putting food on the table for their children. Since the winter storms the Food Pantry has seen a sharp uptick in the amount of Bastrop County residents asking for help.
In these times of crisis, the Food Pantry is there to help these families in their time of need. One of the ways they help the children of the community is through their Nutrition in Backpacks before Little One’s Exit School (NIBBLES) program, which provides out of school time food for 162 at risk youth from four local schools. Food insecurity in children creates a lack of adequate nutrition, which puts these vulnerable students at increased risk for obesity, chronic disease like diabetes; poorer mental health; and behavioral and academic barriers. The NIBBLES program provides the 162 students with enough food and snacks for the entire weekend.
The Food Pantry would like to invite you to partner with them to provide this valuable service to the community by asking you to donate on Amplify Austin’s day of giving. Amplify Austin Day will take place over the course of 24 hours beginning 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021, through 6 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021. During these exciting 24-hours of giving, local businesses offer match dollars so that everyone’s donation goes even further to help the Food Pantry mission. This year the I Live Here, I Give Here Campaign is matching dollars made to organizations like the Food Pantry that provide basic needs.
