Turning Small Acts of Kindness into Moments of Magic—Celebrating Volunteers!

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry, a vital resource that serves the entire county, providing food to those in need. In 2024, 105 dedicated volunteers donated a total of 5,300 hours — an incredible commitment that’s equivalent to 3.5 full-time employees! These amazing individuals significantly impact the pantry’s operations, ensuring that families, children, and seniors in our community have access to nutritious meals.

Our volunteers are involved in every aspect of the pantry’s operations. They deliver meals to seniors who are unable to visit the pantry, assist with food distribution, and help process and date donations. They also answer calls from families in need, offering support and guiding them through the services available. Thanks to their selflessness, families across Bastrop County can put food on their tables, and children can enjoy meals over the weekends through our school programs.

The support our volunteers provide extends to the senior neighbors in our Brown Bag Program and differently-abled neighbors in our Open Arms Program, ensuring our programs continue to function smoothly. Their contributions are truly invaluable, and their impact is felt throughout the community. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and hard work of our volunteers — they are the reason we can serve those in need every day.

The Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry is more than just a place that provides food; it’s a lifeline, made possible by the kindness and generosity of volunteers. Their involvement strengthens our community, and we couldn’t do it without them.

We are always looking for new volunteers to join our family. We are currently in need of morning volunteers to build emergency food boxes, assist in inventory, process donations, and unload our Tuesday food truck delivery.
